Our beautiful son Bailey fell poorly at the age of 4. Several visits to our GP and hospital found nothing. More visits were needed as calpol no longer took the pain away. Bailey would scream in pain, he started limping and wouldn’t walk. Bailey hadn’t moved the sofa in days, so we took him to hospital again. The doctor turned to me and said. “There is a problem, the problem is here” ‘tapping her head’ (insinuating it was all in my mind).
Another doctor examined Bailey, turned to the first doctor and asked her to feel Bailey’s tummy and explain why she had failed to find the large tumour in his tummy!!! CANCER. Our lives came crashing down. Everything a whirlwind. Great Ormond Street, became our home for most of the next two years and we watched Bailey fight to live through all the suffering, pain and sickness with broken hearts.
